Taiwan Leads the Way in Sustainable Fashion with Digital Product Passports

11 Jul 2025

Taiwan is combining its advanced textile industry with innovative digital tools like product passports to boost transparency, traceability, and circularity in fashion.

As a global leader in high-performance textile manufacturing, Taiwan is taking bold steps to align with international sustainability trends by integrating Digital Product Passports (DPPs) into clothing production. These digital IDs—embedded via QR codes or NFC tags—allow garments to carry detailed information about materials, manufacturing processes, environmental impact, and recycling options.

The initiative supports greater supply chain transparency, helps brands meet emerging EU regulations, and empowers consumers to make more informed, ethical choices. Alongside innovation in sustainable fabrics—from pineapple leaf fibers to recycled coffee grounds—Taiwan’s approach showcases how technology and circular design can work together to reduce fashion’s environmental footprint.

Taiwan’s efforts are backed by government support and industry collaboration, positioning the country as a hub for sustainable and tech-forward fashion solutions.
