THE ANZTEC AGREEMENT
A "Comprehensive, High Quality Agreement"
Tim Groser, Minister of Trade, 2013
Signed in 2013, the Agreement between New Zealand and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu on Economic Cooperation (ANZTEC) is only one of three trade agreements Chinese Taipei has signed with foreign trade partners - the others being China, and Singapore.
The ANZTEC Agreement give New Zealand exporters a competitive advantage in several key export areas, including; dairy, meat, fruits, and wine.
The Agreement also emphasises closer film and television production ties, a commitment to liberalise environmental goods and services, and improved cross-border services trade.
CHAPTER 19 - COOPERATION ON INDIGENOUS ISSUES
Chapter 19 of the ANZTEC agreement is a 'first-of-its-kind' type Chapter for a free-trade agreement.
Chapter 19 recognises the special connections between Aotearoa Māori and indigenous Taiwanese and seeks to emphasise the trade and economic cooperation between the two peoples.
The New Zealand - Taiwan Business Council is committed to building and supporting the economic and trade connections built through Chapter 19.
